Pinson, MD, a board-certified urologist who practices general urology as well as specializes in female urology and no-needle vasectomy (www.vasectomy.com). Dr. Pinson has performed over a thousand incontinence procedures, male and female, including all types of sling procedures, urethral bulking, artificial sphincter, and neuromodulation. The staff sees hundreds of incontinence patients a year. Cutting-edge technology
Since Spring 2007, Dr. Pinson has offered the highly touted robotic prostatectomy to treat localized prostate cancer. In a robot-assisted laparoscopic prostatectomy (RLP), robotic equipment allows a surgeon to remove the prostate and seminal vesicles more precisely than in conventional surgery because it eliminates normal hand tremors. In addition, RLP is less invasive because it is done through several very small openings. With the high-powered microscopes in RLP, the surgeon can view the patient’s internal organs and other anatomy much more clearly than with traditional prostatectomy. Men who undergo RLP might have a lower risk for incontinence, erectile dysfunction, and infection. Practicing since 1993, Dr. Pinson has gained expertise in his field and is frequently called upon for public speaking engagements in the region. He is enthusiastic about educating fellow clinicians and sharing his knowledge of the latest in urological tests and treatments. Dr. Pinson visits physician offices to speak to staff about this as well as to talk with them about why certain forms are necessary for referring patients, which tests help to move the patient quickly through the Continence Center, and how certain conditions are treated. Dr. Pinson sees urology patients at all Pinson Urology and Continence Center locations. His private practice includes physician exam rooms, state-of-the-art urodynamics lab, ultrasound suite, pelvic floor physical therapy, and office based surgery suite. Dr. Pinson has surgical privileges at Allegiance Health in Jackson, Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Bixby Medical Center in Adrian, and Herrick Hospital in Tecumseh. Dr. Pinson generally performs Surgical procedures at Allegiance Health where he was Chief of Staff and is a member of the board, and at Bixby Medical Center.
